Botox and fillers

What is Botox?

Botox contains purified bacteria that freeze muscles. In doing so, Botox can help minimize the appearance of lines & wrinkles caused by the facial expressions.

How does Botox work?

Botox is the short name for botulinum toxin, a group of molecules produced by the bacteria clostridium botulinum.

In aesthetics, it can be injected directly into the tiny muscles of facial expression to relax the muscle tension on the skin, where they create lines with age; this then relaxes the lines & wrinkles.

It can also be used to relax muscles that pull down on the face, for example in the neck muscles, to give a lifting effect.

Effects can last between 3-6 months, depending on the individual.

Benefits of Botox: This reduces the formation of certain wrinkles & lines. A few strategically placed Botox injections can minimize the appearance of crow’s feet, frown lines & other pesky wrinkles around the eyes & forehead area.

What are Fillers? Dermal fillers contain ingredients that add fullness of areas that have thinned due to aging. This thinning is common in the cheeks, lips % around the mouth.

How do fillers work?

There are many different types of fillers, such as hyaluronic acid fillers, collagen-stimulating fillers, & permanent fillers.

Fillers can be injected into areas to replace lost volume & revitalizes the skin. There are many different consistencies & forms of fillers, for use in different areas, & the technology is improving rapidly.

Benefits of dermal fillers: Dermal fillers fill in wrinkles, folds & creases to help soften their appearance. Most of the popular dermal fillers’ brands are formulated with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that attacks & retains moisture.

Dermal fillers are commonly used to fill creases & folds around the nose & mouth and to create volume in the cheeks.

Dermal fillers can also be used to sculpt the cheekbones or fill out the lips.
